My work is my activism, demonstrated: Artivism. It feels as if my sculptures impress their will to be created, with an imperative, because they spring from my core beliefs and life purpose. Common themes are Peace (no war), repressed human emotionality, and the yearning of the Earth and her beings for Liberation. I think objects discarded by others find me in order to be upcycled, because when first I notice them I see the future sculpture already revealed. I use all kinds of media ~ wood, metal, stone, ceramics, crystals, and most recently, acrylic.
I am especially proud of my “Soldier Boy” Installation which I made at uni because it speaks for every mother’s child mutilated in every war on every side. It was not exhibited there due to my tutors’ fear of upsetting the military contingent on campus.
Following an Art and Design Diploma I completed two years of BA(Hons) Fine Art at Brighton Metropolitan, then lockdown happened, and I took two years off, moved to Cornwall, and officially retired. In 2022 I completed a year of a part time art and design degree intended to slot me into a further year to complete my degree. Due to health considerations, I abandoned that in favour of actually making art.
