South West Sculptors welcomes new members who have a passion for creating sculpture, in any medium, at any level of experience.
As an organisation, we support our members to exhibit, develop and network in South West England, offering opportunities to meet, share, collaborate and learn about anything related to sculpture.
If that sounds like you and you live in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset or Dorset, here are some of the many benefits that our member have enjoyed over the past 20 years.
Sharing and development
• Hosting studio visits and experience days - to learn from each other and, often, to explore and experiment
• Meeting up for informal social events - whether on a trip to a foundry, gallery or sculpture park, or just to a local pub
• Joining monthly Zoom meetings - to discuss our latest group projects
• A chance to suggest an initiative or help to make a group initiative come to fruition in our volunteer-led organisation
Group exhibitions
• The opportunityto exhibit in a major annual exhibition. Previously, Powderham Castle and Exeter Cathedral
• The possibilityof collaborating with other organisations. We have previously exhibited with Sculpteurs Bretagne, France, and Sculpture Cymru, Wales
• Additional opportunities to exhibit, often at prestigious venues like Symondsbury Estate Gallery, Dorset
• Advice in preparing for open exhibitions organised by other organisations
Marketing support
Access to an exceptional website which provides a platform for each sculptor to showcase their work, highlight current projects and advertise courses.
Being included on the SWS website and social media accounts offers sculptors further means of marketing themselves by accessing a wider network.
South West Sculptors are open and democratic in decision-making and our friendly meetings demonstrate a capacity to share views and a multiplicity of ideas!
