Artist’s Statement
Moving to Cornwall in 2018, after 12 years in France, my work has become heavily influenced by the local environment, elements, topography and sea.
My most recent sculptures are “8 million”: a totem of climate change. Carved from Cornish oak and plasma cut steel and finished by charring the oak and staining the carved grooves.
Prior works, the “maelström” series was conceived on the Pentire cliffs during 2020/21 lockdown visits. The finished pieces utilise materials found historically in Cornwall: some in abundant quantities: copper, wood, pewter, steel and Delabole slate.
Examples of my sculptures can be found at Circle Contemporary Gallery, Hawksfield, PL27 7LR or from 21st May 2022 at Stone Lane Gardens, Chagford.
I am originally from Guernsey and after a career as a Chartered Accountant, in 2002, I went to Plymouth College of Art, graduating with a BA in Ceramics, Metal & Glass (1st class Honours).
