Artist’s Statement
Throughout my design led career I have always been inspired by bold architectural shapes and the shape, structure and fluid lines found in the natural world.
Design is my driving force, translating this into 3D form I initially sculpt in clay as its such a wonderful material, so malleable and then cast into foundry bronze and cold cast metal.
My sinuous lines evolved from decades of being an award winning contemporary jewellery designer have translated beautifully into large scale 3D sculptures.
My work is expressive and open to interpretation. For instance, one of my sculptures : Big Cat doesn’t aim to replicate the animal exactly. Its more about capturing its essence- the feeling of speed, grace and tension. And with my bird sculptures - mostly from the wading family - the abstracted forms embody their natural beauty and elegance.
So this is where I am now: still creating, still curious and still chasing the next design.
